Google on 12th June announced that it has added a new feature on its Search, Maps, and Assistatn to help users find information on the nearest Covid-19 testing centers. The technology giant working with the "Indian Council of Medical Research"(ICMR) and MyGov to provide users with information on authorized testing labs. 


As of today, Google has currently integrated over 700 testing labs across 300 cities under this feature, which is out there on Search, Assistant, and Maps. It is currently working with the authorities to feature more testing labs located across the country.

This new feature is available in English along with eight other Indian languages. (Hindi, Telugu, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Gujarati, it added. Finding the right information regarding testing centers was a big issue pointed out by people who want to get tested for Covid-19.

Earlier in May, Google and Apple released long-awaited smartphone technology to automatically notify people if they might have been exposed to the coronavirus.


The companies said 22 countries and several US states are already planning to build voluntary phone apps using their software. It relies on Bluetooth wireless technology to detect when someone who downloaded the app has spent time near another app user who later tests positive for the virus.
