Update: Paytm removed from Google Play Store

Google on Friday said it had removed Paytm and Paytm First Game Fantasy apps from the Play Store while other applications like Paytm for Business, Paytm mall, Paytm Money, and a few more are still available. Google removed Paytm from its Play store for violating its gambling policies.

Google in an Email response on Friday said:

“The app was blocked for violation of play policies – a clarification of our policy was released earlier today ahead of the IPL tournament,”. Google said it does not allow apps facilitating sports betting and will remove such apps from the Google Play Store.

The Google Play Store listing of the Paytm app is currently showing an error that states, “We’re sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server.” This means Android users can no longer able to download the Paytm app. However, there will be no impact on existing users of the app.

In a tweet, Paytm said the Paytm Android app is temporarily unavailable on Google's Play Store for new downloads or updates.

Paytm confirmed on Twitter that it's Android app is temporarily unavailable on the Play store for new downloads or updates. “It will be back very soon. All your money is completely safe, and you can continue to enjoy your Paytm app as normal,” it tweeted.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 from Paytm: We continue to work with Google to restore our Android app. We assure all our users that their balances & linked accounts are 100% safe. Our services are fully functional on all existing apps and you can continue enjoying Paytm like before.
